The Asia Barista Championship is a competition that seeks to recognise baristas as a professional career in the region. It aims to cultivate the public interest in specialty coffee and foster the growth of the coffee culture in Asia.
ABC is open only to the individual reigning barista champion from the selected Asia countries.
Objectives:
1. To develop the growth, quality and recognition of the Barista profession in Asia.
2. Raising the bar of the Barista's knowledge, expertise and discipline in the preparation and serving of specialty coffee.
3. Instilling creativity and nurturing talent in signature drink creations.
4. Promoting appreciation and awareness of specialty coffee and the role of a barista in the specialty coffee industry.
5. To cultivate a closer relationship within the Barista profession in Asia as a gesture of goodwill.

The Singapore Coffee Association (SCA) was established in the late 1950's by a group of pioneering coffee traders. During the ensuring years coffee trade developed rapidly due to the enterprise and hard work of the traders. Singapore gained recognition as one of the coffee centres of the world.
The same time, as the economy grew, international and national coffee companies and well known retailers entered the domestic market. This transformed the coffee culture from one that was strictly a 'kopitiam kopi' to an international one.
Today, as a result of the transformation, Singapore Coffee Association membership represents all sectors of the coffee industry, from green coffee supply chain providers, international and national roasters to well known coffee retailers.
